Vertical Platform Lifts for Wheelchairs
If you are a wheelchair user, don’t let stairs limit your freedom to move effortlessly around your home. A home wheelchair lift will allow you to safely enter and exit your home, or move between levels in your house. A wheelchair lift, also known as vertical platform lift (VPL), has a non-skid platform that lifts a wheelchair or mobility scooter from one level to another inside or outside your home. Because a home wheelchair lift safely moves a person between short distances, it is a great solution for navigating small stairways, porches or decks. These dependable electric units are qquiet, easy to use and can rise up to 14 ft with a lifting capacity of 750 lbs, an open elevator for the home.
Outside the home, a platform lift also called “a porch lift” and can be installed to allow easy access in and out of your home. Inside the home, these lifts will allow you to navigate stairs and other architectural barriers. Installing a VPL is an investment in the comfort and safety of the people we care about most and is a less expensive alternative to moving or renovating your home. If you think that a wheelchair lift is a good option for you, call us and talk to one of our elevator experts. Our team will answer any questions you have about cost, installation, operation, safety, and available options.
Although some renovations are necessary to install a residential platform lift, a home lift is a better and more affordable option than moving. Accessibility Solutions offers a variety of indoor wheelchair lifts from leading national brands such as Bruno, Harmar, and Savaria. In addition, we have heavy duty wheelchair lifts and outdoor lifts available.
What to Consider When Choosing a Platform Lift
Wheelchair Lift vs Wheelchair Ramp
A wheelchair lift is compact and requires considerably less space than a ramp. Ramps require 1 foot of ramp for every 1″ of stair height, therefore a 36″ high porch would need 36 feet of ramp. There are also safety, physical effort and the maintenance of keeping the ramp clear of snow, ice and obstacles.
Lifting Height and Weight
These lifts can go as high as 14 feet and lift up to 750 lbs. If you need a lift to go higher or lift more weight you should consider a home elevator.
